It sounds like he did like you before, and now that your friends confirmed it, he's trying for you to notice him more. He's probably too shy to make a move, as most guys in high school are, so you could start talking to him. Just make it general and natural, and then when the time comes, who knows what'll happen? Treat him like a friend that you flirt with, and try not to fall into the trap of starting drama just because it's high school, or he might run.
